We two in Australia!

The adventure of our lives

Travel to Sydney # 4

December 23

Since our last blog entry we have already seen a lot and experienced ...

Our first stop was the Australia Zoo. After a night at a rest stop near the zoo in the morning, we are not going all too late because we wanted the day at the zoo used properly.

Once in the zoo, we first note the info about the whole show, which studies take place during the day and have chosen us what we want to see everything. First, we looked at the feeding of the giant turtles. Besides, the spectators were the animals themselves, described their way of life and their habitat and explained. After feeding, we have seen something closer to the crocodiles and then are gone by 13 clock in a huge arena to the "Crocosseum. There was held a huge show in the first elephant, then snakes, parrots and many other birds and were presented at the end of a crocodile.

After the show we ate our packed lunch and have watched as most Australian families have bought tons of food and half is always flown in the garbage.

Once again we strolled through the souvenir shop, it was for us to the koalas, which we later were able to handle times:) At the zoo, there were large lawns on which romped many kangaroos, all of whom wanted to be fed. So we have invested a dollar for a bag of food and then on to the kangaroos. This we found in the shade under the trees, because that day was simply too hot to lay in the blazing sun. Then we looked at all manner of animals in the zoo, dingoes, giant lizards, koalas, echidnas, red pandas, tigers and elephants have even fed. Then we took the shuttle back to the zoo entrance. We have seen an otter feeding, which are really some funny and sweet animals ... then it was already afternoon at about 5:00 and we just walked away from the zoo.

For us, it went to a lookout from which we could see the Glass House Mountains and could even make a few shots of lightning.

The next morning we went on to Brisbane. Shortly before Brisbane was three lanes of the highway and always full, we end up in traffic jams were great ... naaa! In Brisbane right was also very much traffic and it took us forever before we found a parking space. In car parks we have not really married into it, because we did not know exactly how high we are with a roof rack and the stuff on it. So the search went one hours determines the good work. In the end we will still put in a parking garage, which was 2.30 m high. That was close, but it fits! Where we could be free for 2 hours parking. In the time we went to downtown and we have got a rough idea, were in the Touriinfo and have something to eat for lunch. Back at the car we were freiparken then half an hour over the 2 hours and had to pay for as much as $ 5 ... but, well.

The next day, we then explored the city a little closer. In the afternoon we picked up Steph from the bus, put their things into the hostel and then had another round with her in the city center. By 16 December we were in Brisbane, attempts have cookies to bake, but this is due to the non-functioning furnace and because of the wrong flour unfortunately become nothing, have not sewn curtains, not that anyone can look in our "bedroom" and have also yet looked at some in Brisbane itself. We slept always on a small parking lot on the river, from where we had a wonderful view over the city.

On 16 December was our journey then continues. About 9 clock we have picked up Steph from her hostel, packed their belongings in the car and have put ourselves on the way to Surfers Paradise.

Once there we saw a few skyscrapers and not as expected, a small town like Airlie Beach clear. It was quickly found a parking place of the one round we have run out along the beach. Huge waves were there that day and also take the surfer to the full. The beach was wide right and many people were on the beach. We are still a bit of walking through the pedestrian zone, have looked at the skyscrapers and are then continued on at times.

The night we spent at a rest stop on Hwy.

The next morning we had breakfast comfortably, the tent packed up again and have folded our beds and then went on the trip. We wanted to see a great waterfall in the Nightcap National Park. A street of many small nests led there, then stopped and the paved road and it was only a gravel road. Shortly before we arrived at the parking lot from the National Park there was a small depression, where flows in a lot of rain, a small river. In any case, Tina went and after the passage bumped the car. Tina stopped and asked if that was the street, the rumble uttered them. Timo said "nee ... drive on." Then Tina threw a glance in their rearview mirror and saw that the right rear wheel no longer has a normal shape as always. We had a flat tire. Oh great! But the good thing was, we were practically already in the parking lot:) Then we all got out, Timo has rapidly grown the spare wheel and get up and have watched Tina, what you find in the national park everything. When everything was put away on the roof and planted we walked a short way through the (once again) the deepest jungle. After a half mile we came to the "waterfall". In reality it was only a brook, which trickled down from a large rock. But it still looked great, and certainly still great when water is right there.

We are then back to the car, our pasta the night before have not eaten and then we went to Byron Bay. First, we wanted to be a lighthouse standing there at the easternmost point in Australia. Once there, we received a man on the street, wanted the $ 7 for one hour to get parking. After we had the well paid, we had a wonderful view of the coast, the sea and at Byron Bay. When we have made many great photos we went to Byron Bay City and then later for Timo and Tina again shortly into the sea. Afterwards we all enjoyed a cold but still nice shower and then it went off again in search of a night roost.

The next day we had a look at the cities still Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie and Newcastle. In Coffs Harbour we have only located on the beach in Port Macquarie we visited a koala hospital in Newcastle, we are quickly gone, as beautiful as it was not there;)

Then we slept two nights in a parking lot about 70 miles from Sydney. Together with our "East German travel group, we then made a day or a trip to a nearby national park. We are the East German travel group "because we, together with Katha & Max (of Fraser Iceland) and two Brandenburg guys who we met in Airlie Beach, along the road were:) With those and a few others, we will probably / hopefully spend New Year's Eve.

Yesterday we have now arrived in Syndey. But for that there is soon a new journal entry;)

Until then, enjoy the pictures and write diligently comments.
